BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 24, 2010)-Maline Vaitai recorded a match-high 21 kills and Samantha Chukwura added 13 to lead the visiting Lady Hawks of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 26-24) sweep of Morgan State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) match on Sunday afternoon, thus spoiling the Lady Bears' Homecoming festivities.
The loss was the Lady Bears' eighth straight to UMES, while the Lady Hawks, who improved to 17-9, 6-0 MEAC, extended their conference winning streak to 36 straight. Morgan State now holds a 31-22 all-time series lead against the Lady Hawks.
Stephanie Sierra notched a match-high 44 assists, while Jingqiao Li finished with 13 digs. Chukwura had a match-high five blocks to help the Lady Hawks hold a 7.5-6.0 advantage in blocks over Morgan State.
Morgan State (5-16, 3-3 MEAC) was led by Erin Cox, who finished with 11 kills and added three digs and three blocks. Dominique Bozier and Ashley Johnson added five kills apiece. Jourdan Lemons tallied 27 assists and Dina Beamon totaled 10 digs.
Morgan State finished the match recording 31 kills out of 101 attempts, while committing 19 errors for a hitting percentage of .119. The guests totaled 48 kills out of 112 attempts and had 18 errors for a hitting percentage of .268.
Morgan State will be off until Friday, Oct. 29, when it plays host to Howard in a MEAC North Division match at 7 p.m. at Hill Field House, before concluding its three-match homestand on Sunday, Oct. 31 against crosstown rival Coppin State at 5 p.m.

- Dina Beamon collected 10 digs, giving her 909 for her career and is now 13 digs shy of passing former Lady Bear Ja Nina Lee (921) for fifth-place all-time.
- Morgan State fell to 0-4 this season at home. The Lady Bears last home victory was a sweep of Hampton on Oct. 23, 2009.
- Dominique Bozier collected two assisted blocks against UMES, giving her 217 for her career and is now 35 blocks away from passing former Lady Bear Java Johnson (251) for sixth on the all-time charts.
