TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Junior guard Tony Tate exploded for 34 points help power the Florida A&M Rattlers to an 82-71 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference basketball victory on Senior Night at Gaither Gymnasium Monday.

The win was the fourth straight for the Rattlers (11-13, 8-7), moving them into a sixth-place tie with Bethune-Cookman and South Carolina State, which both suffered losses Monday night.

FAMU is now a half-game out of the coveted fifth spot, occupied by Morgan State (11-15, 9-7), which lost its' second straight Monday.

Morgan State led 30-29 at the break, as the Rattlers couldn't get untracked offensive as not one FAMU starter scored in the opening frame.

But the second half was all FAMU, as they outslugged the Bears, 53-41, thanks to a rollicking 64.3 percent shooting touch from the floor, along with a blistering 71.4 percent effort from three-point range.

Tate, who did not start due to disciplinary reasons, scored 34 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the floor, 5-of-6 from three-point range. He also cashed in 11-of-14 charity tosses, while pulling down five rebounds, making five steals and handing out three assists.

Darius Glover added 18 points for the Rattlers.
Michael Harper chipped in eight rebounds and six points, with James Pattman scoring seven points and handing out five assists.

For Morgan State, Christopher Grant had a team-high 15 points, along with seven rebounds. Sam Brand added 13 points and six boards, while Aaron Andrews and Ronald Timus each poured in 12 points. Andrews had a game-high nine rebounds for Morgan State.

The Bears will host Md-Eastern Shore for Senior Night on Monday, February 28th in Hill Field House. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
