Ashley Alexander was named to the UNC-Greensboro Spartan Volleyball Invitational All-Tournament team.
The Morgan State Lady Bears suffered four defeats at the UNC-Greensboro Volleyball Invitational over the weekend in Greensboro, NC.
MSU (7-12, 0-0 MEAC) opened the two-day tournament on Friday with a loss to the tournament host UNC Greensboro 3-0 (31-33, 17-30, 20-30). The Lady Bears hit only .057 as a team, as they were out-hit by UNC-Greensboro (.310).
The Lady Bears were led by Adria Boyd who recorded 11 kills. Esther Johnson had 13 digs for MSU.
In their second match on Friday, MSU took on Florida Atlantic in an evening encounter. FAU took control of the first game and won the match 3-0 (18-30,29-31,27-30). Morgan State had a real difficult time sustaining any offense. There were no Lady Bears who recorded double figures in kills.
The Morgan attack was led by Korinne Lewis and Esther Johnson who recorded 8 kills apiece. Freshman Ashley Preston had 13 digs for MSU.

On day two of the tournament, MSU opened things with a Saturday encounter with the University of Memphis. The Tigers defeated the Lady Bears 3-0 (11-30, 21-30, 22-30), as they pounded out 49 kills while holding Morgan State to 26 kills.
Esther Johnson had 8 kills and 9 digs on the day.
In their final match of the tournament MSU took on UNC-Asheville. The Lady Bears again came up a little short. MSU was defeated 3-0 (23-30, 19-30, 23-30).
Esther Johnson led Morgan State with 12 kills and 11 digs. Korinne Lewis had 10 kills and 3 total blocks for the day.

MSU returns to action on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 when they take on Hampton University in their first MEAC match of the season. The match against the Lady Pirates is scheduled to start at 6:00p.m.
