Keith Goodie

Keith Goodie enters his fourth season on Kevin Broadus’s coaching staff, where he plays a pivotal role in player development, recruiting, and game strategy. His experience and insight have been invaluable to the continued growth and success of the Morgan State program.

The 2024-25 Bears finished fifth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) with a 7-7 league record, contributing to a 14-18 overall mark. As the No. 5 seed in the MEAC Tournament, the team advanced to the semifinals for the first time since the 2021-22 season. The Bears celebrated individual accolades as well, with Kameron Hobbs earning All-MEAC First Team honors and BOXTOROW HBCU All-American recognition, while Will Thomas was named to the All-MEAC Second Team. Statistically, Morgan ranked among the league leaders, finishing No. 1 in scoring (80.0 points per game), No. 2 in field goal percentage (.477), and No. 3 in free-throw percentage (.728).

Before returning to Morgan State, Goodie honed his coaching skills at Delaware State as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator under Eric Skeeters (2020-21), briefly serving as interim head coach for the final two games of the 2020-21 season. He guided the Hornets to a key victory over Morgan State, marking Delaware State’s only MEAC win that season. During his second year with the Hornets (2019-20), Goodie helped Delaware State capture a MEAC Tournament victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore and contributed to a memorable comeback win over defending champion North Carolina Central. In his inaugural season with Delaware State (2018-19), he laid the foundation for sustained success, including a road victory over rival Delaware and the program’s first MEAC Tournament win since 2015.

Goodie began his collegiate coaching career at Morgan State under Todd Bozeman (2007-2015), serving first as Director of Player Development before advancing to assistant coach. During this tenure, he played a key role in Morgan State’s consecutive MEAC championships in 2009 and 2010, when the Bears compiled a 50-22 overall record (.694) and a 28-4 MEAC mark (.875). The program continued to contend for conference titles, reaching the championship game in 2011, 2013, and 2014.

Before his collegiate coaching career, Goodie built a strong reputation as an A.A.U. head coach with the Baltimore Select (1998-2007), developing over 50 athletes who went on to Division I programs. He mentored notable players, including NBA star Sam Cassell, future Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony, Michael Lloyd, and Morgan State’s all-time leading scorer, Reggie Holmes. Goodie also served as a coach for the Adidas All-American Camp (2004-06) and worked with the Cherry Hill Recreation Center (1984-97).

A standout point guard at the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds, Goodie averaged 19 points, 9 assists, and 3.4 steals per game as a senior. He earned JUCO All-American honors at Essex Community College before transferring to UDC. The Baltimore native earned his bachelor’s degree from Morgan State University.

Goodie and his wife, Faye Marie, have two children, Keith Jr. (39) and Keondra Elise (33), and two grandchildren.
