Chretien Lukusa

Chretien Lukusa enters his second season as Associate Head Coach for Morgan State men’s basketball, after serving three years as an assistant coach with the program.
 
During the 2024-25 season, Lukusa helped guide the Bears to a fifth-place finish in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) with a 7-7 league record, contributing to an overall 14-18 mark. Morgan State advanced to the MEAC Tournament semifinals for the first time since the 2021-22 season. The team also celebrated standout individual performances, with Kameron Hobbs earning All-MEAC First Team honors and BOXTOROW HBCU All-American recognition, and Will Thomas securing All-MEAC Second Team honors. Statistically, the Bears ranked among the conference leaders, finishing first in scoring (80.0 points per game), second in field goal percentage (.477), and third in free-throw percentage (.728).
 
Before joining Morgan State, Lukusa spent five years on staff at Binghamton University, including three as an assistant coach. At Morgan State, he has played a key role in multiple areas of the program, including recruiting, player development, and scheduling.
 
Lukusa was a standout player at Binghamton from 2007–2011, appearing in 116 career games—second-most in school history. A four-year letterwinner and two-year captain, he scored 640 career points and ranks among the program’s top six in assists (170), steals (92), and rebounds (275).
 
He earned both his bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in Africana Studies (2011) and a master’s degree in Student Affairs Administration (2013) from Binghamton University.
 
A native of Toronto, Canada, Lukusa has been active with the Canadian National Team and grassroots basketball programs as both a player and volunteer staff member.
 
Chretien and his wife, Avanna, are proud parents to a five-year-old daughter, Amelia, and a two-year-old son, Zaccai.
