No. 37 Deontaye White
Wide Receiver, Football
Baltimore, Md.
Major: Marketing
Deontaye White is expected to make an impact as a receiver in the upcoming season for the Bears football program. The Baltimore product was a four-year letterwinner at Milford Mill Academy where he helped lead the Millers to back-to-back Regional championships under coach Reggie White. He finished his prep career as an All-State and All-County performer and gained over 1,500 yards as a punt return specialist.
With a year of valuable experience under his belt, White is eager to show the new coaching staff and the league what he is capable of and he'll get an opportunity on Saturday, April 28 at Morgan State's annual Spring Game. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. at Hughes Stadium.
Morgan State has a 2018 season that features five games in Hughes Stadium, including a home-opener matchup against Towson on Sept. 1 in the 'Battle for Greater Baltimore'. Homecoming is slated for Oct. 6 versus South Carolina State.
Student Life:
What is the best time of the year on campus?
Definitely spring semester. We have 'I Love Morgan Week' with all the different activities and then our Spring Game to end the week.
Why did you choose MSU?
I chose to come to Baltimore because it’s local. I’m from Baltimore so it’s not far from home. I can be close to my family, and I feel like I fit in with this family here at Morgan more than I would at Towson or Stevenson. I didn't want to go out of state because I couldn't afford it. I knew I could walk on Morgan’s football team so that’s what I decided to do.
What is your major and why?
My major is marketing. I want to actually do something with sports marketing. I want to be that middle man between the athlete and the brand. I want to put them together like a Under Armour and Cam Newton type of deal.
If you had to give an incoming student advice, what would it be?
To have great time management skills. I learned from being an athlete. Just make sure you have time to get stuff done and get stuff done early. And don’t be so "mixy" -- Don’t want to always be on the scene.
Describe your first day as a student at Morgan.
It was pretty fun. It was like a family event-- everyone just talking to each other. It was nice and warm. It was a good day.

Just the environment itself. Walking around campus and seeing people who look like me, act like me. It’s something I can relate to.
