Morgan State Postgame Notes - Week 9


PLAYER NOTES:
• Quarterback Chris Andrew started the ballgame and completed 10-of-28 passes for 129 yards. He also scored on a 17-yard TD run in the third quarter. 
• Senior wideout Ladarious Spearman led the Bears with four catches for 34 yards, while senior Ricky Fisk had three catches for 30 yards.
• QB Chris Andrews led the Bears on the ground with 7 carries for 24 yards (3.4 avg.) 
• Junior defensive lineman Jai Franklin posted a game-high 8 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack. 
• Sophomore safety Tra Revell recorded six tackles with a tackles for loss and a breakup. It marked his second start of the season.
• On special teams, sophomore Alex Raya averaged 32.0 yards on three punts and Chris Clack Jr. averaged 24 yards on four punts. 
• Raya was 1-of-2 on field goals. He missed on a 36 yard field goal, and connected on a 24-yard field goal to score the Bears first points of the game at the 1:42 mark of the first quarter.
• R-junior Chris Clack Jr. entered the ballgame in the second half to handle punting duties. He averaged 33.7 yards on three punts, including a 36-yard long.
 
TEAM NOTES:
• Game Captains: Ayodeji AgbeleseDominique Woods, Thomas Martin and Greg Gibson.
• Morgan State’s best moments came when its 13 seniors lined up on the Hughes Stadium turf to be honored before their final home game. • Morgan State donned BLUE tops and WHITE pants. The team also wore new American Flag emblazoned “M” logos on their helmets in honor of Military Appreciation.
• Morgan State won the toss and elected to kick.
• Morgan State’s offense totaled 173 yards, including 32 rushing yards.
• Morgan State converted on 5-of-18 third down conversions.
• The Bears had six receivers with at least one catch.
• The Bears posted 9 tackles for loss and three sacks, however Bethune-Cookman amassed 498 total yards of offense, including 27 first downs.
• On special teams, the Bears gave up an average of 25.3 yards on seven kick returns.
• With the loss, Morgan State trails in the series against Bethune-Cookman now by a 21-8 margin. The Morgan State Bears have dropped 5 straight against the Wildcats since 2010.
• The attendance at Hughes Stadium for Homecoming was 3,521.
• Norfolk State had three scoring drives that took 4 or less plays.
• MSU interim head coach Fred T. Farrier's against Bethune-Cookman is 0-1.
• Before today's loss, the Bears had won their last three home regular season finale games at Hughes Stadium (2013, '14, '15). The Bears dropped to 3-8 in home finale contests since 2006.
• The weather was 60 degrees with sunny skies and 8 mph winds.
