Morgan State Postgame Notes - Week 5


PLAYER NOTES:
• Quarterback Chris Andrews completed 16-of-31 passes for a game-high 197 yards. He also tossed a 12-yard TD pass to wideout Amonta Poteat and a 25-yard TD pass to senior wideout Thomas Martin. Andrews' longest pass of the day was a 44-yard bomb to Thomas. Andrews added 14 yards on 5 carries, including an 11-yard run.
• Senior wideout Thomas Martin led the Bears with 7 catches for a game high 86 yards, including a touchdown.
• Redshirt senior running back Lamont Brown III led the Bears with 72 yards (4.2 avg) on 17 carries, while senior starting running back Orlando Johnson added 66 yards on 9 carries.
• Junior linebacker Brandon Griffin posted seven tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack. 
• Senior Greg Gibson led the Bears defense with eight tackles and had a tackle for a loss.
• Sophomore linebacker Chris Fatogoma posted five stops and had two tackles for loss. The Bears also had seven separate defenders record five or more total tackles.
• Junior defensive lineman Ayodeji Agbelese recorded his first sack of the season. He also had three tackles.
• On special teams, sophomore Alex Raya averaged 35.0 yards per punt, including a season-high 59-yarder. He also had a 37-yard field goal attempt blocked in the 1st quarter... and connected on field goals from 35 and 38 yards. Orlando Johnson had two kick returns for 43 yards, including a 25-yarder. Tight end Duchon David ran for a 2-point conversion to help give the Bears a 14-10 halftime lead.
 
TEAM NOTES:
• Game Captains: Chris MillerAndrew KingAndrew Mitchell and Greg Gibson.
• Morgan State’s offense totaled a game high 365 yards, including 168 rushing yards.
• The Bears posted nine tackles for loss; two hurries, three sacks and limited Delaware State’s offense to just 8-of-20 on third down conversions. 
• On special teams, the Bears gave up an average of 17.7 yards per kick return.
• With the win, Morgan State increased its lead in the series against Delaware State to an overall record of 35-26. The Morgan State Bears have won 8 of the last 9 meetings against the Hornets since 2008, including a string of 7-straight since 2010.
• The attendance at Hughes Stadium for a Breast Cancer Awareness Game was 1,386.
• Morgan State scored the first 21 points of the game and the Bears’ defense pitched a second half shutout.
• MSU interim head coach Fred T. Farrier's against Delaware State improved to 1-0.
• The game was telecast live on MorganStateBears' Facebook Live.
