Morgan State Postgame Notes - Week 6

PLAYER NOTES:
• Quarterback Chris Andrews completed 14-of-22 passes for a game-high 172 yards. He also tossed a 19-yard TD pass to wideout Ladarious Spearman and a 10-yard TD pass to Grayling Harrison. Andrews' longest pass of the day was a 23-yard completion to running back Eric Harrell. Andrews was sacked twice and threw an interception in the second quarter.
• Backup freshman quarterback DeAndre Harris entered the ballgame in the fourth quarter and completed 2-of-5 passes for 30 yards. He also threw an interception that was returned for 46-yards.
• R-senior wideout Grayling Harrison led the Bears with 4 catches for a team high 61 yards, including a touchdown. Senior Ladarious Spearman added 3 catches for 51 yards with a TD.
• Redshirt senior running back Eric Harrell led the Bears with 52 yards (3.2 avg) on 16 carries, while senior starting running back Orlando Johnson added 31 yards on 8 carries.
• Sophomore saftey Carl Garnes finished with seven tackles and had a 44-yard interception return, while junior linebacker Damare Whitaker posted six tackles and recorded his first pick of the season. 
• Senior Greg Gibson led the Bears defense with eight tackles and had a tackle for a loss.
• Junior defensive lineman Jai Franklin recorded a sack and two tackles for loss. He also had three tackles.
• On special teams, sophomore Alex Raya averaged 32.8 yards per punt, including a 55-yarder and two punts inside the 20. He also missed a pair of point after attempts, and a 20-yard field goal attempt. Orlando Johnson had 35-yard kickoff return to open the second half, but was carted off the field after the play. Thomas Martin had a fantastic day on special teams with punt returns for 80 yards, including a 42-yarder. 
 
TEAM NOTES:

• Morgan State’s offense totaled a game high 290 yards, including 202 passing yards.
• The Bears posted 10 tackles for loss; two interceptions, a sack and a hurry, and limited Hampton’s offense to just 4-of-12 on third down conversions. 
• The Bears defense limited Hampton to just 73 yards on the ground.
• On special teams, the Bears average 56.0 yards per kick return and 40 yards per punt return.
• With the loss, Morgan State's overall record against Hampton is now 38-26-2 since 1931. Hampton has won 5 of the last 7 meetings against the Bears, including the last two meetings.
• The attendance at Armstrong Stadium for Hampton's Homecoming festivities was 12,122.
• MSU interim head coach Fred T. Farrier's against Hampton fell to 0-1.
