MEAC Teleconference Week 1

Q: (Patricia Porter - MEAC) "Now that we are past the preseason and headed into the first game how do you feel about this Morgan State Bears squad?"
Lee Hull: "Well one thing I learned is that we are very young. We have nine(9) seniors on this squad right now, but they are a hard working group of guys. They come to work every single day and we’ve had a great fall camp so far."
Q: "Last year Herb Walker shouldered a lot of the offensive force for this squad earning notable recognition in and outside of the conference. Can you talk about the expectations for him as we look to start the season?"
LH: "Well the expectations are the same as they were last year. When we came in we didn’t expect Herb to do anything extraordinary, we just want him to come and play hard everyday, work hard everyday, and a lot of it has to do with what the offensive line does, and also the quarterback. We are a team. So if Herb has success, that means that it's because of the team."
Q: "Well this week you have a pretty tough matchup against Air Force what are your thoughts about this pending game?"
LH: "It’s going to be a tough matchup. Air Force was 10-3 last year and they're always a very good team, a very tough opponent. They're not just a triple-option team anymore, their spread... they do a lot of different things, so they confuse you with what they do and they find out what works and they go with that."
"On defense they do a great job. They’re not big up front, but they create pass rush through twisting during games, they blitz a lot and they confuse you. It’s going to be a tough matchup for us, obviously we are going to their venue. In Colorado Springs the air is a little bit thinner, so we're trying to do a few things to prepare for that. So it’s going to be a tough matchup, but we look forward to it and look forward to a great game on Saturday."
Q: (Baltimore Sun) "Who will be starting at quarterback on Saturday?"
LH: "That’s still up in the air we are still competing. This is game week so we will make a decision on that by Thursday before we go out to practice. Moses [Skillon] and Seth [Higgins] are both doing a great job for us, both have started some games in different years. So I just want those guys to compete and that will make us a lot better going into the game."
Q: "Is there something in particular you are looking for in one of those guys that will revile the decision for you ?"
LH: "Well I think both of them do good things, and there’s some things that they don’t do well. I am just trying to see if one can improve on the things they don’t do well and get better at that."
Q: "What do you feel are Moses’s strengths, and then what are Seth’s strengths?"
LH: "Well Moses’s strengths are that he’s a competitor. He has a big strong arm, and he can make all throws. Seth is a little bit more cerebral, and a little bit more mobile."
Q: "Seth is coming off of that shoulder injury would you say that he is close to 100%"
LH: "Yes I think he is very close, if not 100%."
Q: "Has Seth being close to full strength tightened the gap between the two quarterbacks?"
LH: "Yes definitely because he can make more throws now, so before some of the throws he couldn’t make, he’s making those now."
Q: "Do you have an update on Dominique Woods?"
LH: "Yes he will be playing on Saturday. It was an ankle sprain, so he’ll be fine."
Q: "What does it mean for the offensive line to have Dominique back and healthy?"
LH: "It means a lot; he's our anchor. So as of right now, Dominique [Woods] and Matthew Thompson are the only two returning starters. Dominique has started for us for two years, so this will be his third year starting. He is very smart and he is the glue to that offensive line, so its great to have him back."
Q: "Potentially you could start two freshmen on the offensive line. Do you have any concerns about that or do you feel that the youth could be good for the team?"
LH: "I think the youth is good. We are more athletic then we were a year ago. Those two guys are very athletic so I look forward to see what they can do."
Q: "Lastly, do you have an update on Delonte Hall?"
LH: "Yes Delonte came back and has been practicing all week so he’s 100%, so he is ready to go."
Q: "What boost does that give the defense to have him back?"
LH: "It’s a big boost. He is our best secondary player, another guy who started every game for us last year. He gives us a lot of experience back there so it’s great to have him back."
Q: "Any concern about him being rusty?"
LH: "No, because he practiced the last two practices and he will get three practices this week, so the rust should be off."
