MEAC Teleconference Week 12

QUESTION: “Good win versus FAMU last week. Can you talk about that matchup?”
LEE HULL: “Yes it was a good win. We were coming off a three-game losing streak. It was good to end that and get on a winning note. That was our goal this week, to try and get the win and end the season on a good note.”
Q: “Well coach heading into the final game of the season how would you summarize the Bears 2015 season?”
LH: “A lot of ups and downs and distractions we had to deal with and overcome. I’m very happy with where we are at, how the guys persevered. The last two years we have had a lot of distractions and turmoil around here with different situations, but our guys are resilient and they’ve done a great job. So if we can win this week it will wrap up what I think is a good season for this team, being a young team and with all the things they had to go through.”
Q: “Well you wrap up your season vs. Norfolk state. What are your thoughts on this pending game?”
LH: “They are a good football team. You can see they are getting better and better each week. Offensively, they can score points. They have a very good quarterback and three or four very good receivers, and a few running backs. So our defense is going to have to step up. Defensively, they aren’t too complicated, but they run around and make plays and do a good job of keeping things simple. I expect this to be a great game. I know coach will have those guys ready. Its our Senior Day, so hopefully we can send our seniors out on a good note.”
Q: “Is there a part of you that thinks this team could have had more success if it wasn’t for that certification thing that happened at the beginning of the season?"
LH: “Yes. I do feel that way, that we could have been a better football team and an older football team. But we played a good season. I would have liked to have seen if we had all of our top guns out there, but the situation is what it is and we dealt with it. But we aren’t going to look back and say what if, that’s the hand we were dealt and we played with that."
Q: “Can you talk about Andrew King and his play this season? What have you seen from him and were you surprised by anything from him this year?
LH: “No, I’m not surprised at all with what Andrew did. He was hurt the first four games of last year, so I didn’t really know what he could do. The last seven games that he played we saw that he could be a special football player. And he continued to show us that this year. He got his opportunity to make plays and he did that so that’s what I come to expect from him.”
