Ramona Riley-Bozier
She is entering her 16th season as Head Volleyball coach at her alma mater. Coach Bozier is the architect of what has become one of the most decorated volleyball programs in the history of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. She is easily the most accomplished coach iin the history of Morgan State volleyball, and her legacy of accomplishments has earned her no less than four MEAC "Coach of the Year "honors, and five Morgan State University "Coach of the Year " awards. Coach Bozier enters thr season with a career record of 271-198.
When Coach Riley-Bozier assumed the head coach mantel in 1998, the program was floundering. Morgan State volleyball was at the bottom of the MEAC, and Coach Riley-Bozier was faced with the challenge of trying to turn around a team that did not win a single match in her first season. Ramona rolled up her sleeves and went to work. The results have been stunning. MSU has won four MEAC Championships (1992, 1997 ,1998, 2000). In 1997 Morgan State became the first Historically Black institution to make an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Under Coach Riley-Bozier's guidence, MSU has become an establishedforce in the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Confrence. The "Lady Bears" are the only team in the MEAC that has played in each of the last eight MEAC Tournament championship matches. MSU has ripped off 80 consecutive MEAC North Division wins. Morgan State has not been beaten by anyone in the MEAC North since 1994.
Following her graduation from Morgan State ('87), Romona pursued work in th Mental Health field. However, athletics continued to boil in her blood, and when former Athletic Director Leonard Braxton asked her to return to coach the volleyball team, she couldn't refuse.
Coach Riley-Bozier resides in Harford County ,Maryland with her husband Jeff, and their children Jeff,Jr.(11) and Dominique(15). Riley-Bozier was also the MSU softball coach for eight seasons. Â
