BALTIMORE, Md. (Sept. 6, 2026)--The Bears took a tumble, in the finale of their three-match weekend homestand on Sunday, Sept .6 with a three-set loss against the rival Towson Tigers, 3-2 (17-25, 21-25, 10-25) at the Hill Field House.
 
Morgan State (1-5) came out with energy taking an early 2-1 lead on the first set. However, that would be the Bears' last lead of the set. Morgan pulled within 12-11, following a kill by senior Jada Williams, but the Tigers responded with five straight points to increase their lead to 17-11. Towson would go on to win 25-17.
 
Towson hit a staggering .441, which was not only a set best but a match high. The Tigers finished with 16 kills on 34 attempts and just one error. Taylor Pagan chipped in with six kills. Malinah Purcell-Telefoni had five kills of her own. Morgan sophomore Isabelle Brown produced five digs, and Williams had five kills in the opening set.
 
In the second set Morgan led 15-13 at the technical timeout. Brown continued her nice day adding eight assists in the set. The Tigers roared back to take the lead and did not relinquish it, winning 25-21, heading into the break. The Tiger's Peyton Meyer matched her total of assists in the first set with seven in the second. This set featured nine ties and four lead changes. 
 
The third set was dominated by the Tigers who took an early 10-1 lead. The Bears fought back and pulled within six points twice, but it ultimately was not enough, as Towson took the third set 25-10.
 
Williams led the Bears with 10 kills and added five digs, while Michaela Panekova finished with eight kills and four digs. Brown had a match-high 21 assists, a team-high six digs and two aces.
 
The Tigers were led by Anna Rice, who hit a match-high .625 with 11 kills, along with a match-high five aces, two digs and two blocks. Purcell-Telefoni added 10 kills and three blocks, including a match-high two solos. Kaitlyn Moran tied a match-high 21 assists and Megan Platt had the game high 11 digs. 
 
Morgan State, which will stay at home for another three-match homestand, will hit the court again on Friday, Sept. 11th when it welcomes Georgetown to The National Treasure for the opener of the Battle of the Beltway. First serve is at 6 p.m. at Hill Field House. The match will stream live on the MEAC Network.
