NORFOLK, Va. (April 21, 2026)--Morgan State sophomore
Tyler Williams was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week. It is the second weekly honor this season for Williams, who also received the award on March 24. Delaware State's Maite Bou Safont was named MEAC Rookie of the Week.

A native of Baltimore, Williams concluded the regular season going 2-0 on the week to help Morgan State finish as MEAC co-champions and secure the No. 1 seed, following a 5-2 victory on the road at Howard (4/13).

Williams posted a 6-0 victory at No. 3 doubles with teammate
Damla Arslan and a straight sets win at No. 5 singles over Howard's Dana Hall 6-4, 6-3.

She finished the regular season with an 11-1 singles record, going 5-0 in the MEAC in singles action. Williams is currently riding an 11-match singles winning streak.Â

Morgan State, which concluded the regular season as MEAC co-champions with Norfolk State, will be the No. 1 seed in this week's MEAC tennis championships, held at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. (April 23-25).

The Lady Bears received a first-round bye, advancing directly to the semifinals on Friday, April 24 at 9 a.m. Morgan State will face the winner between No. 4 North Carolina Central and No. 5 Delaware State.
