Women’s Tennis Shutout Rival Coppin State On Senior Day, 7-0

BALTIMORE, Md. (April 12, 2026)--The Morgan State women's tennis team closed out the home slate with a dominating 7-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) victory over rival Coppin State on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day at Lake Clifton Park Courts.

Morgan State (12-7, 4-1 MEAC), winners of two straight and eight of their nine matches, ended the home campaign with a 3-0 mark.

Coppin State's lone victory on the day would come at No. 1 doubles, following a 7-5 victory. However, the Lady Bears would claim the doubles point when the tandem of Roua Limem and Tyler Williams earned a 6-3 victory at the No. 2 spot. Morgan State then claimed a default win at No. 3 to take the 1-0 lead.

From that point on it was all Morgan State, as the hosts won all five singles matches that were played in straight sets and claimed a default victory at No. 6 when Williams extended her winning streak to 11 straight due to Coppin being short a player for that position.

Stephens defeated the Eagles' Brandy Babcock-Hannah in at No. 1 singles match 6-2, 2-0, won by retirement. Julia Jeffrey was one of three Lady Bears who didn't allow a point in their match, as she cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 against Sierra Singh. Amira Bargaoui picked up her 11th win, following a No. 3 singles victory over Coppin State's Abigail Perue 6-3, 6-1.

Morgan State closed out the match with two more shutout wins when Marta Serra defeated Saphirre Ferguson 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 4 position and Lauryn Hall playing in a No. 5 match, earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Allison A.

Next Up: The Lady Bears will look to earn a share of the MEAC regular season title when they close out the regular season on Monday, April 13 against Beltway rival Howard at 2:30 p.m. at Banneker Recreation Center in Washington, D.C.

Norfolk State currently sits atop the MEAC standings at 5-1. The Spartans lone league loss came to Morgan State, who defeated them 6-1 during the MEAC Round-Up (3/8) in Norfolk, Va.

Howard (5-10, 4-1 MEAC) enters the contest coming off a 4-0 loss at Navy on Saturday. The Bison, who dropped a 5-2 decision to Norfolk State in the MEAC Round-Up, have won three straight league matches to position themselves for a share of the title.
