TOWSON, Md. (Feb. 28, 2026)--Morgan State was back at Tiger Softball Stadium on the Towson University campus on Saturday morning for two more non-conference games in the DeMarini Tiger Clash. The Lady Bears would fall to Cornell, 15-5 in the opener in five innings, before falling to Merrimack, 10-1 in seven innings.
Â
Game 1 vs. Cornell
Just like the day before, The Big Reg and Morgan State began the day facing each other in Saturday's opener. Cornell scored 15 runs on 13 hits and held Morgan State to five runs on eight hits.
Â
The Big Red (4-4) held a 1-0 lead after one inning, then erupted for four runs in the second and another five runs in the third to take a 10-0 lead. Emma Harshberger doubled to left field to bring in two runs in the fifth and Ella Harrod followed with a two-run triple to center field to make it 9-0. Maddie Ullensvang capped off the top of the third with a double hit to right center, which scored Harrod for the 10
th run.
Â
Morgan State (0-9) got its first run of the contest in the third inning when
Olivia Pagano crossed the plate, but the Big Red responded, adding two more runs in the fourth to increase its advantage to 12-1. Morgan State scratched back and got three runs in the bottom of the inning to cut the deficit to 12-4.
Â
Jayla Campos singled to right center to score
Gianna Ettore for the first run of the inning. Campos scored on a double to right center by
Serena Rodriguez to make it 12-3.
Tonya Marks sacrifice fly hit to left field allowed
Olivia Garner to score for the fourth run of the game.
Â
Game 2 vs. Merrimack
Morgan State and the Warriors were both in search of their first win of the season. The two played two scoreless innings until
Millie Cousins led off the third inning with a homer to left center to put the Lady Bears on the board 1-0. Unfortunately, that would be Morgan State's lone run of the game.
Â
The Warriors evened the score at 1-1 when Caity Lemay singled to left field to score Madeline Arvai. Merrimack then took the lead for good when Anna Mitrou led off the fifth inning with a home run to center field to put the Warriors ahead 2-1.
Â
Merrimack then blew the game open, scoring eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to end the game with the 10-1 victory. Back-to-back RBI doubles by Emma Prahin and Mitrou pushed the lead to 4-1. Madeline later singled to right field to score two more runs for a 6-1 advantage. Lemay would end the game early when she hit a pinch-hit grand slam to left center to drive in the final four runs of the game.
Â
Cousins,
Jayla Campos,
Gianna Ettore and
Olivia Garner all recorded a hit in the game. Cousins would also toss a strikeout as pitcher.
Â
Merrimack's Anna Gedacht (1-3) picked up her first win of the season, pitching 6.0 innings and surrendering a run on four hits, while striking out five batters.
Â
Lemay was a perfect 4-for-4 with a run scored and a game-high 5 RBI. Mitrou finished 2-for-3 with a run and 2 RBI.
Â
Next Up: Morgan State will close out the 2026 DeMarini Tiger Clash on Sunday, March 1 when it plays rival Towson in the finale at 3 p.m. at Tiger Softball Stadium.
