COLUMBIA, Mo. (Feb. 20, 2026)--The Morgan State women's tennis team completed its trip to the 'Show Me State' with a non-conference match at the University of Missouri on Friday afternoon with a 4-0 loss at the Mizzou Tennis Complex.
Â
It was just the second all-time meeting between the two programs, who first met during the 2019 season in Norfolk, Va., a match also won by the Tigers.
Â
Missouri (5-2) took a 1-0 lead after claiming the doubles point with wins at No. 3 and No. 1 doubles.
Â
The Tigers then secured three more wins in singles play to complete the victory. Mizzou's Gian Octa earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 3 spot to give the hosts a 2-0 lead. Korina Roso was able to hold off
Amira Bargaoui 6-1, 6-3 in a No.1 singles match to extend the lead to 3-0.
Â
Missouri would put the match away with a victory at the No. 5 position, but Morgan State's
Lauryn Hall made Zoe Lazar work for it. After dropping the first set 6-4, Hall then shut out Lazar in the second set, 6-0 to force a third and decisive set. Lazar would go on to win 6-2 to seal the deal for Mizzou.
Â
The Lady Bears'
Tyler Williams had a strong performance against Missouri's Lara Quaglia. Williams was leading her match at No. 6 singles 7-7 (7-3), 4-3 before it was called, following Lazar's victory at No. 5 singles.
Â
Next up: Morgan State will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to take on Temple in a non-conference match on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 8:15 p.m.
