Morgan State Tabbed HBCU All-Stars Team of the Week; Lawson Wins Week 10 Player Honor

BALTIMORE, Md. (Jan. 28, 2026) -- Morgan State senior guard Rob Lawson has been named the HBCU All-Stars 2025–26 NCAA Division I Week 10 Co-Player of the Week, while the Bears also earned HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I MEAC Team of the Week honors, the organization announced Wednesday.

During the week of January 18–24, Lawson averaged 20 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.0 steals while logging 32.5 minutes per game.

In the Bears' 128–53 win over the University of Virginia-Lynchburg, Lawson finished with 16 points (6-of-11 FG), seven assists, four rebounds, two steals, and one block in 27 minutes.

Four days later, on January 24, the 5-foot-11 guard delivered in a thrilling 78–77 come-from-behind win over Beltway rival Howard, pouring in a career-high 24 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc while playing 38 minutes.

For the season, Lawson is averaging 13.7 points per game while shooting 39 percent from the field. He also ranks third in the league in assists (4.2 per game) and fifth in minutes played (32.5 per game).

Morgan State earned Team of the Week honors after posting a 2–0 record with a home victory over Virginia-Lynchburg and a road win at Howard.

The Bears are currently riding a four-game winning streak and will make the short trip across town Saturday night for a key rivalry matchup against Coppin State. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at PEC Arena.

The "Player of the Week" and "Team of the Week" honors recognize the nation's top HBCU student-athletes from the MEAC, SWAC, CIAA, SIAC, and independent institutions. Honored players will have the opportunity to showcase their talents at the 5th Annual HBCU All-Star Game on Sunday, April 5, at Corteva Coliseum in Indianapolis. The game will air live on national television and streaming platforms.
