BALTIMORE, Md. — Morgan State University is pleased to announce its 2025 induction class into the Varsity "M" Letterwinners Club Athletic Hall of Fame. This year's class is composed of seven (7) exceptional individuals and two historically significant teams, each representing a chapter of dedication, perseverance, and unparalleled talent. These athletes and teams have etched their names into the annals of Morgan State history. They will soon join the ranks of legendary athletes who have left a legacy upon the hallowed grounds of Morgan State.
The Varsity "M" Letterwinners Club Athletic Hall of Fame inductees will be enshrined during an awards banquet on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Marriott Owings Mill Metro Centre in Owings Mills.
MSU's Class of 2025 is headlined by a cast of decorated athletes who epitomize Morgan athletic excellence: Ivy Bush-Lawrence (Volleyball, 2006-09), Maurice Burton (Football, 1976-79), Clarence Holzendorf (Football, 1977-80), Esther Johnson Smith (Volleyball, 2004-07), Alan Mitchell (Track & Field, 2003-06), Courtenay Servary (Lacrosse, 1972-1975), and James Turk (Basketball, 1961-1965). The legacy of Boret "Bo" Rose (deceased), as a Morgan State football alumnus (1981-85), will be celebrated with the Civic Award, a posthumous honor recognizing his profound impact on the university and its student-athletes. More than just a former player, his commitment manifested in tangible ways, notably through the creation of a modified Training Table, ensuring nutritious meals for student-athletes. He also offered summer employment for student-athletes through his BBQ business.
