NORFOLK, Va. - For the first time in school history, Morgan State Athletics was honored with the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Top Academic Progress Rate (APR) Award.
Â
For its efforts of posting the MEAC's highest APR, the Bears' athletic department received a check for $10,000.
"I'm extremely honored that the Morgan State athletics department received this honor," said
Dena Freeman-Patton. "It is a testament to the hard work and dedication that the student-athletes, coaches, and staff have put in over the years and a tribute to our commitment to academic success."
The award was presented during the MEAC All-Sports Award Dinner presented by Coca-Cola® hosted at the Embassy Suites by Hilton at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort, held in conjunction with the conference's annual spring meetings.
2025 marks the first time that Morgan State achieved the highest APR in the MEAC since the award was first given after the completion of the 2017-18 academic year.
