BALTMORE, Md. (April 18, 2025) — Morgan State University welcomed Nadine Domond as the new leader of their Women's Basketball program with enthusiasm at a press conference on Friday. The event, held on the university campus, marked the official beginning of Domond's tenure and signaled a new chapter for the Lady Bears.
The event marked a moment of excitement and new beginnings as Domond was named the 9th Head Coach in the program's storied history.
"We looked far and wide to find someone who is committed to winning — that's always our top priority," said Morgan State University President David K. Wilson.
However, Dr. Wilson further elaborated, "But we also look for someone who is excited about more than just success on the field. We want someone who truly understands what this institution stands for, who embodies our values, and who recognizes the unique role college athletics plays in shaping student-athletes and the campus community."
Domond expressed genuine excitement about the possibilities that lie ahead for the new era of Lady Bear basketball.
"I believe the landscape here is wide open—there's a blank canvas full of potential," said Domond. "That's what makes Morgan State such a beautiful and special place. It's a unique opportunity to build something great, and that's what drew me here. This University truly is a National Treasure."
Known for her commitment to player development and a competitive, disciplined approach to the game, Domond expressed her enthusiasm about building a championship-caliber culture both on and off the court.
"It's going to be exciting basketball," said Domond. "We're going to play with energy, but also be able to slow it down, execute in the half-court, and handle our business."
"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Domond to the Morgan State family,' stated Dena Freeman-Patton, Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.
"As a championship coach and former player, she believes in developing women both on and off the court. She will build a strong, supportive staff, recruit talented players—especially those with ties to the DMV area. And she will serve as a great representative and partner for the University. Her vision includes achieving immediate success while also laying the foundation for long-term sustainability."
With the unwavering support of the Morgan community, the athletic department, and University leadership, the future of Lady Bear basketball is filled with promise.
Welcome to the National Treasure, Coach Domond!
