BALTIMORE, Md. (April 16, 2025) — The Morgan State men's tennis team delivered a resounding performance on Tuesday, blanking the Loyola Greyhounds with a commanding 7-0 victory at the McClure Tennis Center.
From the outset, the Bears asserted their dominance, sweeping the doubles matches to secure the crucial first point. Morgan's duo of Mikeal Carpenter and Makkijha Brown swept Loyola's Ryan Bloand and Jorge Quintana on court No. 1. Simultaneously, the combination of Anthony Parris and Antonio Santos solidified the Bears' lead with a dominant 6-2 victory over Bennett Lalonde and Gustavo Rotundo on court No. 3. This impressive showing in doubles gave the Bears the early advantage in the match.
The momentum carried over into the singles competition, where each Morgan player controlled their respective matches, leaving no room for Loyola to gain a foothold.
Carpenter's dominance on the singles court continues to be a defining feature of his senior season. His recent victory over Loyola's Noah Castillon, a decisive 6-0, 6-2 win on court No. 1. This triumph extends his already impressive winning streak to 11 matches, solidifying his position as a formidable opponent. With a stellar 12-1 record in No. 1 singles he continues to be one of the best players in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
The Bears would go on to finish the Greyhounds off with the shutout victory, hopefully signaling their readiness for the challenges that lie ahead as the season draws to a close and they elevate their game and fine-tune in preparation for the MEAC Championships.
