Bears Ride Senior Day Momentum to Victory Over Bison, Win Streak Roars On

BALTIMORE, Md. (April 16, 2025) — Under a crisp, sunny sky at the Lake Clifton Park Tennis Courts, the Morgan State men's tennis team delivered a decisive 5-2 victory against their Beltway rivals, Howard University. The win held extra significance as the Bears celebrated Senior Day, marking a fitting end to the conference schedule with a dominant performance.

Morgan extended their winning streak to four games, bolstering their overall record to 7-14. The victory also solidified their Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) standing at 2-3, concluding their conference play on a positive note. Conversely, the Bison continue to struggle, their loss pushing their season record to 5-13 and leaving them winless in MEAC competition at 0-4.

Carpenter continued his impressive run in singles competition, showcasing the form that has made him a force to be reckoned with this season. His match against Howard's Michael Major proved to be another display of his skill on the court. Carpenter's powerful strokes allowed him to control the tempo of the match from the outset. Securing a decisive 6-3, 6-2 victory on court No. 1, Carpenter not only added another win to his column but also raised his already exceptional singles record to an impressive 13-1.

The Bears earned the highly contested doubles point that put them ahead early in the match. Niles Rachal and Mohamed Ridha Ghettas demonstrated teamwork, grinding out a 6-4 victory on court No. 2 against Howard's Daniel Dunac and Kaosie Nwokedi. Simultaneously, the duo of Anthony Parris and Bertin Karenzi battled on court No. 3, overcoming Hassimiyou and Kendrick Lash with an identical 6-4 scoreline.

Majdi Ben Abdelwahed, Niles Rachal, and Mohamed Ridha Ghettas spearheaded the Bears' victory with impressive singles performances. Ben Abdelwahed dominated his opponent on court No. 3, securing a decisive 6-1, 6-4 win. Rachal faced a tougher challenge on court No. 4, battling back after a first-set loss to clinch a hard-fought 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (8-6) victory. Ghettas solidified the Bears' win with a solid 6-3, 6-4 win against Dieng, contributing the final point needed to seal the team's overall victory.

Morgan is gearing up for their final regular season challenge, a road match against Hofstra in Hempstead, New York, on Saturday, April 19. This contest serves as the crucial tune-up before the team heads to Cary, North Carolina, for the MEAC Tennis Championships.
