Bears Claw Their Way to Victory Over Harford C.C.

BALTIMORE, Md. (March 11, 2025) — The Morgan State men's tennis team secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Harford Community College in a non-conference match held Tuesday afternoon at the familiar Clifton Park Tennis Courts.

The Bears found themselves in an early hole, losing the doubles point to their opponents. While the competition was fierce across all courts, it was the match on court 1 that ultimately sealed the deal for the visiting Owls. Tristan Duval and Unai Herena Perez narrowly edged out the Bears' duo of Niles Rachal and Makkijah Brown in a hard-fought battle. The pair's 7-6 (9-7) victory gave the Owls a valuable point to kick off the day's competition.

Despite facing a challenging opponent in Tristan Duval, senior standout Mikeal Carpenter,  battled fiercely on court 1, ultimately taking the victory 7-5, 7-5.

Undeterred by the initial setback, the Bears rallied with impressive wins across the remaining courts. Bertin Karenzi, Mohamed Ridsha Ghettas, and Yessine Kerout secured crucial victories on courts 3, 4, and 5, respectively, showcasing the team's depth and resilience.

While the final scores might not have reflected the dominance they sought, the team refused to buckle under pressure, fighting for every point, every inch. "Just another tough and ugly win,' admitted Carpenter, echoing the sentiment of a team that knew victory didn't always come easy. 'But this is what we work for, and I'm glad to have pulled through for my team."

The afternoon's contest provided valuable match experience and momentum for Morgan as they look to continue their season strong.
