TOWSON, Md. (March 14, 2025) — Morgan State men's tennis team completed a 7-0 sweep of Goucher College on Friday afternoon at the Schroedi Tennis Center.
The Bears dominated the double point, winning on all three courts. First to finish was court three, where Anthony Parris and Bertin Karenzi won 6-4 over Tadeo Asprella and Jackson Beam. Next was Yessine Kerouat and Majdi Ben Abdelwahed on court two, winning 6-4 over Guilherme Moraes and George King. To go three for three, Makkijha Brown and Mohammed Ridha Ghettas won 6-3 over Gabe Naftoly and Benedikt Rummel.
Morgan delivered a dominant performance in singles play, securing a clean sweep against their opponents. Kerouat set the tone early, crushing Calis Nguyen on court four with a decisive 6-0, 6-0 victory. Brown continued the momentum on court one, claiming a solid 6-1, 7-5 win against Naftoly. Ghettas followed suit, defeating Moraes 6-3, 6-3 on court five, further solidifying Morgan's lead. Ben Abdelwahed contributed another win, battling to a 6-1, 7-6 victory. Karenzi also secured a win with scores of 6-1, 7-6. Jacob Poole closed out the exceptional showing in a tight match (6-3, 6-7, 10-7).
The Bears (3-8) are set to break from their familiar surroundings and head south to Saint Leo, Florida, for a Tuesday (March 18) matchup against Saint Leo University. This road trip offers a change of scenery and a fresh challenge for the team as they look to improve their season record.
