SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (Nov. 27, 2025)--Morgan State senior
Mihjae Hayes scored a team-high 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting and
Gabrielle Johnson added nine points, but it wasn't enough, as the Lady Bears dropped their second game of the Discover Puerto Rico Shootout to Rice, 75-44 on Thanksgiving Day at Coliseo Guillermo Angulo.
Â
The Owls (5-2) would force 27 Morgan State turnovers, which they turned into 33 points. Rice's bench would outscore the Lady Bears, 36-5.
Â
Hailey Adams led the Owls with a game-high 13 points and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds to record a double-double. Adams, who shot 6-of-10 from the floor, also finished with three assists and four blocks, both game highs. Aniah Alexis added nine points and hauled in seven rebounds.
Â
Hayes scored the opening basket for the Lady Bears and Rice countered with a 10-0 run. Hayes hit a free throw end Morgan's scoring drought and the Owls closed out the quarter on an 8-2 run to take an 18-5 lead.
Â
A layup by Johnson at the 5:25 mark of the second quarter, capped off a 10-3 run by Morgan State to cut the deficit to six points at 21-15. But the Owls closed out the half with a 17-6 run to take a 38-21 halftime advantage.
Â
Morgan State was unable to cut into the Owls' lead but would play even with Rice in the third quarter, as both teams scored 18 points in the period.
