Bears Suffer Setback to the Eagles in Season Finale

BALTIMORE, Md. (Nov. 22, 2025) – Walker Harris tossed a pair of touchdown passes, and despite committing multiple turnovers, North Carolina Central made enough big plays to pull away for a 33–14 win over Morgan State on a partly sunny Senior Day at Hughes Stadium. The Eagles dominated key moments, securing their seventh straight victory over the Bears dating back to 2015.

With the win, NCCU closed the season at 8–4 overall and 3–2 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play, while Morgan State wrapped up its 2025 campaign at 4–8 overall and 1–4 in the MEAC.

The Eagles gained 360 yards, including 264 in the air, while Morgan State finished with 234 yards.

Morgan State redshirt freshman quarterback Raymond Moore III finished with 111 passing yards on 12-of-21 attempts, throwing one touchdown and a pair of interceptions. He also led the Bears on the ground, rushing for 53 yards on 16 carries and adding a rushing score. Dorian Harris added 51 yards on 12 carries.

Senior linebacker Erick Hunter, playing in his f
inal game in the Blue and Orange, delivered a standout performance. He racked up 11 tackles, added a sack, and forced a fumble. With those stops, Hunter climbed past Albert Gamble (292; 2000–03) to move into second place on Morgan State's all-time career tackles list with 298. Fellow seniors Jadon Carter and Jianni Woodson-Brooks also turned in strong performances. Carter recorded eight tackles and a forced fumble, while Woodson-Brooks contributed seven stops and 1.5 tackles for loss.

Harris was efficient for the Eagles' offense as he completed 23-of-34 passes for 264 yards. Chris Mosely led all runners with 86 yards on 19 carries, including a touchdown. He finished with a game-high 71 yards on seven receptions.

The game opened on a shaky note for the visiting Eagles. On their very first offensive snap, Harris connected with wideout Chance Peterson for a short pass that turned into a 19-yard gain — before Erick Hunter punched the ball loose. Joshua Narh pounced on the fumble at the Eagles' 41-yard line, giving Morgan State an early opportunity. Unfortunately, the Bears were unable to capitalize on the takeaway, as their opening drive stalled and ended in a turnover on downs.

On NCCU's next possession, Harris orchestrated a methodical 13-play, 63-yard drive that chewed up nearly six minutes. The Eagles reached first-and-goal at the 8-yard line, but back-to-back stops by Chance Pickard, followed by a dropped end-zone pass by Chauncey Spikes, forced NCCU to settle for a 20-yard field goal by Kaleb Robison, giving the Eagles a 3–0 lead.

The Eagles extended their lead later in the quarter when Harris found Refeno Vangates for a 16-yard touchdown strike, pushing the advantage to 10–0 heading into the second period.

The Bears continued to struggle offensively, and NCCU capitalized again, tacking on a 23-yard field goal from Robison to stretch the lead to 13–0 with 13:02 left in the half.

Morgan State finally got on the board late in the quarter when Raymond Moore III faked a handoff on play-action and found Justin Perry wide open behind the defense for a 30-yard touchdown. The extra point by Sahr Gbundema cut the Eagles' lead to 13-7 at halftime.

The Bears opened the second half with a turnover. On the very first play, Raymond Moore III was intercepted by Jelani Vassell, who returned it 43 yards. An illegal block in the back during the return placed the Eagles at the Morgan 13-yard line, and just two plays later, Christian Mosley raced in for a 6-yard touchdown, extending NCCU's lead to 20–7.

Morgan State capitalized on a fumble recovery by Aki Harvey midway through the third quarter. On a 7-play, 37-yard drive, Raymond Moore III powered in a 1-yard touchdown "tush push," cutting NCCU's lead to 20–14.

On the very next kickoff, Refeno Vangates electrified the Eagles, fielding the ball at the 8-yard line and racing 92 yards down the sideline for a touchdown, pushing NCCU's lead to 27–14 with 7:41 remaining in the third quarter.

NCCU added one final score in the fourth quarter when Harris connected with a wide-open Chauncey Spikes in the end zone for a 15-yard touchdown pass, sealing the game at 33–14.
