Old Dominion Rolls Past Bears

NORFOLK, Va. (Nov. 21, 2025) – Zaach Wiggins poured in a game-high 18 points to lead Old Dominion to an 88–56 victory over Morgan State on Friday night at Chartway Arena. The Monarchs snapped a two-game skid to even their record at 3–3, while the Bears dropped to 1–5 on the season.
 
OPENING TIP

• Wiggins, a freshman, led four Monarchs in double-figures. He scored 18 points on 6-for-10 shooting and had three assists in 22 minutes off the bench. Jared Turner had 14 points (5-8 FG) and five boards. Jordan Battle finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. LJ Thomas added 11 points (4-7 FG), seven rebounds, and four assists.
• Elijah Davis was the only Bear to score double-figures with 12 points (6-10 FG), to go along with three rebounds and three assists in 34 minutes.
•  Christian Meeks added 9 points with a game-high 9 rebounds.
• Walter Peggs Jr. came off the bench and chipped in 8 points (3-9 FG).

THE DIFFERENCE

• ODU shot 48 percent (29-of-60) from the field and went 10-of-27 from three-point range. Morgan State shot 35 percent overall (21-of-59) and shot just 3-of-18 from deep.
• The Monarchs shot 74 percent (20-27)  at the free-throw line, while the Bears converted 55 percent (11-20).
• ODU controlled the glass, holding a 42–36 rebounding advantage, though Morgan State held a 14–12 edge on the offensive glass.
• ODU's bench outscored the Bears by a 46-19 margin.
• The Monarchs led by as many as 34 points when Wiggins scored on a breakaway dunk to make it 88–354 with 1:17 remaining.
• The Monarchs had just seven turnovers during the night.
• Morgan's best scoring run was during the early going when Peggs buried a 3-pointer as part of a 5-0 spurt to trim ODU's lead to 10-9 at the 15:56 mark.
•  The Monarchs went on a 14-0 run over a seven-minute stretch, building a 43-26 lead by halftime.

NEXT UP
The Morgan State Bears will be back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 25, when they host the Drexel Dragons. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. (EST) inside Hill Field House.
