EMMITSBURG, Md. (Nov. 12, 2025)—Mihjae Hayes scored a game-high 14 points, recorded a game-high three steals and added seven rebounds, but it wasn't enough, as the Lady Bears fell on the road to Mount St. Mary's 69-47 on Saturday afternoon at Knott Arena.
Hayes finished the game shooting 6-of-9 from the floor and all seven of her rebounds came on the defensive end.
Selina Gutierrez added nine points, while
Success Prysock tallied a game-high 11 rebounds to go with five points.
Morgan State (1-3), which was playing without the services of several key starters, fell behind 9-0, before Gutierrez knocked down the first of her two three-pointers to put the Lady Bears on the board at 9-3 with 5:56 to play in the opening quarter.
The Mount (1-3) countered with a 6-0 spurt as their lead grew to 12 points at 15-3. A three-pointer by
Dakota Alston ended the run and Hayes hit a jumper, as Morgan State would trail 18-8 after the first quarter.
The second quarter was much like the first, as the hosts scored the first seven points to take a 25-8 lead with 6:38 to play. A three-pointer by Deniz Torgut concluded a 13-1 run and increased the Mountaineers' lead to 22 points (31-9), their largest of the first half. Morgan State trailed 36-20 at the intermission.
The Mount's lead grew to as much as 25 points (59-34), following a steal and layup by Gabrielle Kennerly with 6:16 left to play in the game.
Morgan State shot 16-of-58 (27.6 percent) for the game and was just 3-of-17 from three-point range for 17.6 percent. The Lady Bears finished the game shooting 63.2 percent (12-of-19) from the charity line.
Mount St. Mary's outscored Morgan in bench scoring, 41-10. The Mountaineers shot 23-of-60 (38.3 percent) for the game and were 7-of-19 (36.8 percent) from beyond the arc. The hosts connected on 16-of-23 (69.9 percent) from the free throw line.
Mount St. Mary's was led by Kennerly, who finished with 12 points, two rebounds, two steals and a game-high two blocks.
Morgan State returns home to host Johns Hopkins on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 5 p.m. at Hill Field House.
