Morgan State Releases 2024-25 Women’s Basketball Non-Conference Schedule

BALTIMORE, Md. (Sept. 13, 2024)--Morgan State head women's basketball coach Ed Davis Jr. has announced the 2024-25 non-conference opponents.

The non-conference schedule, which features 15 contests – five of which are at home, presents a variety of opponents for the Lady Bears, ranging from NCAA Tournament teams from two divisions and the annual participation in the Puerto Rico Clasico.

Morgan State opens the 2024-25 campaign at home on Nov. 4 against Division II opponent Shepherd, which went 1-26 a year ago. The Rams and Morgan State last met during the 2022-23 season with the Lady Bears claiming a 78-39 victory (11/7/22).

The Lady Bears will then host local foe Johns Hopkins on Nov. 7. The Blue Jays had a program-best 26 wins last season with just four losses and reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Morgan will go on the road to Virginia for its next two contests, as it visits Richmond (Nov. 9), before facing Old Dominion (Nov. 11). Richmond captured the A-10 Tournament title last season and reached the first round of the NCAA Division I Tournament. Old Dominion advanced to the second round of the WNIT.

After returning home to face rival Towson (Nov. 14), the Lady Bears will visit UMBC (Nov. 17), before returning to Hill Field House to entertain Washington Adventist (Nov. 20).

Next on the docket is a trip to the West Coast for a two-game swing in California to face Stanford (Nov. 22) and a first-ever meeting against Nevada (Nov. 24). Last season Stanford defeated the Lady Bears, 98-38 (Dec. 31). The Cardinal finished the season 30-6 and reached the Sweet 16 of the Division I Tournament.

The Lady Bears will then head to the Nation's Capital to visit George Washington (Nov. 27), before traveling to Connecticut to face Sacred Heart (Dec. 5) and Central Connecticut State (Dec. 7). Sacred Heart went 24-10 a season ago, including a 63-55 victory at Morgan. The Pioneers would win the NEC Tournament title and advance to the NCAA Division I Tournament.

Following a 10-day layoff, the Lady Bears will conclude what will be seven consecutive games away from Hill Field House with a trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico for the Puerto Rico Clasico. Morgan's opponents have yet to be announced.

Morgan will finally appear back in Hill Field House for the first time in 40 days, when it welcomes Mount St. Mary's (Dec. 30) to close out the non-conference slate and 2024.
