BALTIMORE, Md. (May 15, 2024) — On Saturday, May 18th thirty-four (34) current and former Morgan State student-athletes will receive degrees from the University. The 147th Spring Commencement ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Hughes Memorial Stadium on the University's campus.
In total, 32 individuals have completed undergraduate degrees, while two (2) have earned master's degrees in the spring.
The 34 students comprise 13 different degree programs and nine (9) sports. Six (6) members served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Among the graduates this year are members of the prestigious softball program that has made history by securing its third consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) regular season championship. Their remarkable journey culminated in the team's second-ever MEAC Title in 2024, earning them a spot in the Durham Regional for the NCAA Softball Championship. The Lady Bears (35-18) will begin double-elimination regional play on Friday, May 17, when they face No. 10 national seed Duke at the Duke Softball Stadium. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
Also among the graduating class of exceptional athletes, Ishana Asinor stands out as the 2024 MEAC Pole Vault Champion. Asinor's victory not only brought honor to herself but also to Morgan.
Beyond the track, Morgan's cheerleading squad has also made a significant impact on the national stage. Their exceptional performance in the All-Girl Intermediate Division finals of the NCA College National Championship secured them an impressive second-place finish. The cheerleading squad's success adds to Morgan State's impressive list of accomplishments.
The graduating student-athletes have not only left an indelible mark on Morgan State University but have also inspired future generations to strive for greatness. As they embark on the next chapter of their lives, these individuals will undoubtedly carry the lessons and values they learned at Morgan with them, making a positive impact on their communities and the world at large.
