Women’s Basketball Signs Niagara Transfer Brooklyn Jones

BALTIMORE, Md. (June 12, 2023)--Morgan State's women's basketball program has signed Brooklyn Jones to Ed Davis' 2023-24 recruiting class.

The 5-foot-7 rising senior guard spent the previous three seasons at Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) member Niagara.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Jones played in 28 games as a junior for the Purple Eagles last season. She averaged a career-high 3.2 points, while pulling down 2.3 rebounds per game and totaled a career-high 22 steals during the 2022-23 campaign.

Jones tallied a career-high 11 points twice against Siena (3/2) and at Fairfield (1/12). She also added a career-best eight boards and had three assists in the Siena contest. Jones was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team for the 2022-23 academic year.

As a sophomore, Jones averaged 2.5 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. Jones had three assists and recorded her first collegiate block vs. Marist (2/10) and set a career-high four steals at Fairfield (2/3).

Jones will join a Morgan State squad coming off a 17-12 campaign, including a 10-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) mark, which was good for second place. Morgan State entered the MEAC Tournament as the No. 2 seed, which tied its highest tournament seed in school history.

The Lady Bears set several school records during the 2022-23 season, including most wins to start a season (6-0), longest home court winning streak (16 games) and most home victories in a season (11-2).

Morgan State would advance to the Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) where it faced Wake Forest in the opening round. It was the program's second all-time postseason appearance on the Division I level and the first since the 2010-11 season, when that team also reached the WNIT.
