Morgan State Falls Short At Home To Rival Howard, 4-3

BALTIMORE, Md. (April 20, 2023)-The Morgan State women's tennis team dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Beltway rival Howard on Thursday afternoon in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) contest at the MSU Tennis Courts.

Howard (7-10, 4-2 MEAC) claimed two of the played doubles matches to earn the doubles point and jump out to a 1-0 lead. The two teams would split the six singles contest, which would give the Bison the one-point victory.

Stefania Moysiadi earned a win at No. 6 by default to even the score at 1-1. Howard reclaimed the lead, 2-1 following a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles by Jordan Grayson and extended it to 3-1, with Selah Stibbins' 6-4, 6-2 victory at the No. 2 spot.

Averiana Mitchell won her No. 1 singles match against Sifa Butcher, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 to pull within 3-2 of Howard. The Bison would win the contest with Emnet Simunyola's No. 5 victory, putting the guest ahead 4-2. Lauryn Hall would round out the scoring, defeating Howard's Nadia Pegram, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 4 spot.

Next Up: Morgan State will conclude the MEAC regular season on Saturday, April 22 when it plays host to Delaware State for Senior Day. First serve is at 11 a.m. at the MSU Tennis Courts.
