BALTIMORE, Md. (Nov. 10, 2023)--Just two days ago crosstown rivals Morgan State and Coppin State met for Morgan's home finale and Senior Day. The Eagles would sweep Morgan inside Hill Field House. Friday evening the Bears were looking to return the favor and spoil Coppin State's Senior Night in the regular season finale for both teams.
Â
Unfortunately, the host Eagles would come out on top, defeating Morgan State 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-12) in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) match at the Physical Education Complex.
Â
Coppin State, which swept the season series, improved to 24-4, 13-1 MEAC and earned its ninth straight win over the Bears. The Eagles, who wrapped up the MEAC regular season crown following Wednesday's victory over Morgan, will be the No. 1 seed in next week's MEAC Volleyball Championship in Dover, Del. (Nov. 17-19). The Eagles will face No. 8 South Carolina State.
Â
Morgan State, which dropped its last two contests and three of the last five, fell to 8-21 and 3-11 in the MEAC. The Bears will be the seventh-seed in the tournament. The Bears will face No. 2 Howard in the opening round.
