TOWSON, Md. (Sept. 4, 2022)—Morgan State concluded the weekend with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-15) loss at Towson on Sunday afternoon at SECU Arena to close out the Towson Invitational.
The host Tigers (7-0), who finished with 41 kills and just nine errors, would hit .405 for the match. Towson recorded a set-best 16 kills and had a .542 attack percentage in the second set.
Morgan State (0-7) tallied 23 kills, but committed 20 attack errors to finish with a hitting percentage of .037 for the match.
The Lady Bears were led by
Jourdan Page's six kills and received five kills from
Justyus Jackson and
Madison Grace.
Mackenzie Jefferson totaled 18 service aces and
Alyssa Sampson finished with 13 digs.
Towson held a slim 5-4 advantage in blocks. Lydia Wiers had four and Nina Cajic added two for the Tigers.
Jadyn Perkins and Jackson each had two blocks to lead Morgan State.
Morgan State will now head to Ohio to take part in the Cleveland State/Akron Invitational (Sept. 9-10). The Lady Bears will face Valparaiso on Friday at 11 a.m. at the University of Akron, before traveling to Cleveland to face co-host Cleveland State at 6 p.m. Morgan will wrap up the tournament on Saturday with a single match against co-host Akron at 12 p.m.
