Men’s Tennis Tops Howard, 6-1

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 2, 2022) – The Morgan State men's tennis team defeated the Howard Bison, 6-1, in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match Saturday afternoon at Banneker Recreation Center.
 
The Bears improved to 7-6 overall for the season, while Howard fell to 5-6.

The Morgan State men's tennis team defeated the Howard Bison, 6-1, in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match Saturday afternoon at Banneker Recreation Center.
 
The Bears improved to 7-6 overall for the season, while Howard fell to 5-6.
 
Morgan picked up the doubles point and never looked back, building a 3-0 lead before the Bison finally got on the scoreboard when Tory Bailey took down Makkijha Brown 6-1, 7-6 on court 2. 
 
Niles Rachal clinched the victory, following the efforts of Nihit Rawal and Mikeal Carpenter.  
 
"It feels really great to get the W against a team who performed just as well as us at the MEAC roundup," said Rachal. "I think we all felt the pressure to win in order to win the division, but we took that pressure and let it fuel us."
 
Rhajzhon Rankins held off Hassimiyou Dieng, 6-4, 7-5, on court 5, and Sebastian Lopez rallied to earn a 6-7(4), 6-3, 7-5 win against Kyle Martin on court 6.
 
Morgan's top doubles pair turned in a convincing win to secure the initial point. Rhajzon Rankins and Niles Rachal won 7-6(3) against Kyle Martin and Gabe Knowles. Rankins and Rachal improved their doubles record to 9-3 for the season and 3-1 in conference play.
