BALTIMORE, Md. (March 24, 2022)—The Morgan State women's tennis team visited local foe Loyola Maryland and played to a 3-3 tie on Thursday at the McClure Tennis Center.
The contest was halted due to a wet court with the No. 5 singles match undecided. The score was 0-6, 6-4, 4-4 with Loyola leading 30-love in the current point.
Doubles (1, 2, 3)
The host Greyhounds (5-2-1) captured the doubles point, by winning two of the three doubles contests. Olivia Tracey and Genevieve Wurtz defeated Morgan's tandem of
Nolwenn Cardoso and
Stefania Moysiadi 6-2 in a No. 1 match.
The Lady Bears'
Asmara Rose and
Averiana Mitchell earned a 6-2 victory at the No. 2 spot against Lauren Manwiller and Jessica Bodewes.
But Loyola Maryland won the point when Abby Decker and Sandra Aguirre defeated
Anabel Aran and
Hannah Smith in a No. 3 contest, 6-4.
Singles (1, 2, 3, 4, 6)
Morgan State (4-6-1) outscored the hosts 3-2 in the five singles matches that got completed. Olivia Tracey upped the hosts lead to 2-0 when she defeated Morgan State's
Ana-Lei Kalawe 6-2, 6-1 in a No. 1 singles match.
Smith earned the first point of the evening for the Lady Bears, defeating Manwiller, 6-2, 6-0 in a No. 2 match. Mitchell evened the score at 2-2 when she held off Bodewes 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 3.
Loyola Maryland regained the lead at 3-2, following a 6-2, 6-3 win by Decker over Rose in a No. 4 contest.
Moysiadi tied up the match at 3-3 when she defeated Wurtz 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 6 spot.

Morgan State will travel to Bloomsburg, Pa. to face Bloomsburg in a non-conference match on Tuesday, March 29.
