McCalla Scores 21 To Lead Morgan Past NCCU, 62-57

BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 12, 2022) – Ashia McCalla shot 8-for-11 from the floor, including 3-for-4 from three-point range to score a game-high 21 points to lead the Lady Bears past North Carolina Central, 62-57 on Saturday evening at Hill Field House. McCalla is now nine points shy or reaching 1,000 for her career.
 
Morgan State improved to 11-6 overall and closed out the first half of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) slate with a 5-2 mark. North Carolina Central fell to 3-15 and 1-7 in the MEAC.
 
The win extended Morgan State's winning streak to four straight and upped the Lady Bears' home record to 5-1 this season.
 
Ja'Niah Henson totaled 15 points and recorded game highs in assists (four) and steals (four). Taylor Addison finished with nine points and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.
 
NCCU was led by Diamond Thomas, who finished with 20 points. Kira Lowery had 13 points and Tianna Carter added 11. Ashlyn Lockard tied a game-high seven rebounds.
 
The Lady Bears will welcome South Carolina State to Hill Field House on Monday, Feb. 14 at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs were dealt an 80-55 loss at Coppin State on Saturday.
