TOWSON, Md. (Nov. 30, 2022)--Morgan State got back in the win column on Wednesday evening with a 76-48 thumping of rival Towson in a Battle For Greater Baltimore non-conference contest at SECU Arena.

The 28-point victory was Morgan State's most lopsided win against a Division I opponent since defeating South Carolina State last season in Baltimore by an identical 76-48 score on Feb. 14, 2022. Â

Morgan State ended its two-game losing skid with the win and improved to 7-2 on the year, while Towson fell to 4-3. The Tigers now lead the all-time series, 15-11.

Ja'Niah Henson scored a game-high 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting to lead four Lady Bear starters in double figures scoring. Henson also added a game-high four steals, had three rebounds and two assists. Charlene Shepherd finished with a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, while dishing out a game-high six assists. Taylor Addison scored 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting and Vanessa Oduah added 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting.

Morgan State's starting unit outscored Towson's, 66-37. The Lady Bears also held a 42-23 rebounding advantage over the Tigers. Defensively, the guests forced Towson into 15 turnovers with 10 coming by way of steals. Morgan State finished the game scoring 21 points off Towson turnovers. Â Â

Towson would become the sixth team this season to fall victim to Morgan State's defensive lockdown pressure in the fourth quarter and score less than 10 points. Leading 58-44 after three quarters of play, the Lady Bears went on to hold the Tigers to just four points in the fourth quarter on 2-for-15 shooting (13 percent).

The Tigers were led by Kylie Kornegay-Lucas, who finished with 14 points, two rebounds, a steal and a game-high two blocks. Skye Williams totaled eight points and Anissa Rivera finished with a team-high eight rebounds and seven points.

The Lady Bears shot 50 percent (28-of-56) from the floor, including 5-for-14 (35.7 percent) from three-point range. The guests also converted on 71 percent (15-for-21) from the charity stripe.

Morgan State will return to the road on Sunday, Dec. 4 when it travels to College Station, Texas to take on Texas A&M at 3 p.m.
