BALTIMORE, Md. (August 28, 2021)-Jamie Llewellyn had a match-high 10 kills and Cami Herman and Maddie Bodman added nine and eight kills, respectively, as visiting Navy closed out the Baltimore Invite Tournament with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-20-25-21) victory over host Morgan State on Saturday afternoon at Hill Field House.

The Mids finished the weekend going undefeated in the three matches they played, while the Lady Bears dropped to 0-4 on the season.

Navy hit .333 as a team and finished the match with 40 kills, including a high of 15 kills and .440 in Set 3. Averi Miller had a team-leading 17 assists, while Celie Feighery finished with a double-double of 13 assists and a team-high 10 digs.

Morgan State was led by
Madison Grace's nine kills.
Gabriela Hiciano and
Justyus Jackson each added five kills.
Mackenzie Jefferson accounted for a match-high 24 of the Lady Bears' assists and added five digs and a match-high two service aces.
Jadore Hayes finished with a team-best nine digs.

Trailing two sets to none, the Lady Bears' offense picked up in the third set. Morgan State would hit a set-best .391 with a set-best 12 kills. However, the Lady Bears were unable to overcome four service errors.

Navy held its largest lead of the set at 22-16 following a kill by Herman. Morgan State would score the next four points to pull within 22-20. But a Morgan service error ended the run. A kill by Hiciano brought the hosts within 23-21, but the Mids closed out the set and match with back-to-back kills for the 25-21 victory.

The Lady Bears finished the match recording 26 kills and hit .074 for the match. Morgan State out blocked the guests, 5.0-3.0.
Kayla Gaddy-Middleton and Jackson each led the way with a total of four blocks.

Morgan State will stay close to home next week when its visits Towson for the Towson Invitational (Sept. 3-5). The Lady Bears will face Stony Brook in its opener on Friday, before taking on both Princeton and Loyola Maryland on Saturday. MSU will close out the tournament with a Sunday contest against the host Tigers.
