2020-21 All-MEAC Teams
NORFOLK, Va. (March 5, 2021)-Morgan State senior guard
Dahnye Redd was named to the All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) first team, while sophomore guard
Ja'Niah Henson and junior guard
Ashia McCalla were named to the All-MEAC second and third teams, respectively, as announced by the league office on Friday.
Howard's Jayla Thornton was named MEAC Player of the Year and teammate Anzhane' Hutton was named MEAC Rookie of the Year. Anissa Rivera of North Carolina Central was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Year, while Howard head coach Ty Grace was garnered MEAC Coach of the Year honors.
The all-conference honors are voted on by the head coaches and sports information directors in the league.

Ed Davis Jr. Their selections also mark the 15th year out of the last 16, that Morgan State has had a player named to the all-conference team.
"I'm thankful to be recognized by the conference, it means a lot to be named a first-team All-MEAC member," said Redd, who becomes the third consecutive first-team selection for Morgan State, joining former Lady Bears
Chelsea Mitchell (2020) and
Adre'onia Coleman (2019). "I'm looking forward to the tournament."
Redd started all 13 games she played and led the team in scoring (13.4) and rebounding (7.2). She shot 40.5 percent (64-of-158) from the floor, while connecting on 4-of-8 (50 percent) from three-point range. Redd tallied 174 points, 93 rebounds, 17 assists, 16 steals and two blocks.
A native of Darby, Pa., Redd reached double figures in scoring nine times and rebounding twice, while collecting her lone double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds in the season opener against UMBC (11/25). Redd scored a season-high 21 points at Towson (12/20) and pulled down a season-high 12 boards twice against UMBC (11/25) and at Coppin State (1/30).
She ended the regular season ranked fourth in the MEAC in offensive rebounding (3.1), sixth in scoring and rebounding, seventh in field goal percentage, eighth in free throw percentage (.750) and 11
th in defensive rebounding (4.1).
Redd, who was a preseason All-MEAC first team selection, was named MEAC Co-Player of the Week (Jan. 19), and was a two-time
College Sports Madness MEAC Player of the Week selection (Nov. 30, Jan. 4).
Redd was joined on the All-MEAC first team by MEAC Player of the Year, Jayla Thornton (Howard), Chanin Scott (North Carolina A&T State), Deja Winters (North Carolina A&T State) and MEAC Defensive Player of the Year, Anissa Rivera (North Carolina Central).
Henson started all 14 games and finished second on the team in scoring at 11.5 points per game. She reached double figures in scoring 10 times and led the team in assists (42), steals (25) and minutes played (428), while totaling 161 points and 40 rebounds.
The Baltimore native reached double figures in scoring 11 times and twice matched a career-high 19 points in the season opener against UMBC (11/25) and Howard (1/3).
Henson ranks second in the league in three-point field goal percentage (.354), sixth in free throw percentage (.792), seventh in assists (3.0), ninth in field goal percentage (.395), tied for ninth in steals (1.8) and 11th in the MEAC in scoring.
She was named
College Sports Madness MEAC Player of the Week on Feb. 8.
Joining Henson on the MEAC second team were Aliyah Lawson (Coppin State), Anzhane' Hutton (Howard), Jalynn Holmes (Norfolk State), Mangela Ngandjui (Norfolk State).
A native of Greenbelt, Md., McCalla finished second on the team in rebounding (4.5) and third on the team in scoring (11.0). She started all 14 games and totaled 154 points, 63 rebounds, 22 assists, 17 steals and a block on the season.
A preseason All-MEAC second team selection, McCalla reached double figures in scoring 11 times, including a season-high 21 points against Navy (12/18). She scored 16 points, while going a perfect 10-for-10 at the free throw line against Coppin State (2/27).
She concluded the regular season ranked fifth in free throw percentage (,795), sixth in three-pointers made (1.4), eighth in three-point percentage (.306), 12
th in offensive rebounds (1.9), 14
th in field goal percentage (.355), tied for 14th in the MEAC in scoring and 16th in rebounding.
McCalla was joined on the MEAC third team by Jalynda Salley (Coppin State), Iyanna Warren (Howard), Sean Kelly Darks (North Carolina A&T State) and Jasmen Watlon (North Carolina A&T State).
The Lady Bears, who enter next week's MEAC Tournament as the two-seed out of the MEAC Northern Division, return to action on Thursday, March 11, when they face No. 3 North Carolina Central out of the MEAC Southern Division in a MEAC quarterfinal game. Tip-off is at 2 p.m. at the Norfolk Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va.
The two teams did not play each other this season. Last season the Lady Bears won the lone meeting, 86-79 in Baltimore (2/10). Morgan State leads the all-time series, 12-5.
