BALTIMORE, Md. (March 22, 2021)-Morgan State, losers of three of its last four matches, will look to get back on track when it visits rival Coppin State on Monday, March 22. First serve is at 6 p.m. at the Physical Education Complex Arena. The contest was originally scheduled for March 12. The Lady Bears are currently tied with Delaware State for second in the Northern Division standings. Only the top two teams in the division will advance to the upcoming MEAC Tournament (April 2-3), hosted by Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Va.
 
BEAR CLAWS: Morgan State (4-4, 3-3 MEAC), is coming off a series split at Howard (3/18-19). The Lady Bears won the first meeting 3-1 and were swept in the finale. It was the first time this season that the Lady Bears played back-to-back matches. Morgan State, which prior to the loss had won four straight regular season matches against the Bison dating back to 2019, won the 2021 Spring season series, claiming victory in three of the four matches. Despite the loss, the Lady Bears received some help when division leader Coppin State swept its series against Delaware State. Morgan hit .052 for the match and finished with 27 kills and 22 attack errors in the finale against Howard. Tylar Roberson had a team-best nine kills and Mykaela Ross added eight. Jada Bivins fell shy of a double-double with 15 assists and nine digs, both team highs.

EAGLE SCRATCHES: Coppin State (8-4, 7-1 MEAC), winners of seven straight contests, is coming off a series sweep of Delaware State (3/18-19) and earned at least a share of the MEAC Northern Division regular season title, following its 3-1 victory over the Hornets (3/19). Miajavon Coleman tied a match high with 11 kills and Chudear Tut added 10 and totaled a match-best seven blocks. Ashley Roman recorded a match-high 21 digs and Salma Gonzalez tallied 16. Kareemah Hopkins collected 30 assists in the win.
 
MSU VS CSU SERIES NOTES: Morgan State leads the all-time series against Coppin State, 65-13. The Eagles won the season's first meeting at Hill Field House (3/11) by a score of 3-1. The loss was the Lady Bears' first home defeat of the season and also ended a seven-match home winning streak.

NEXT UP: Morgan State will travel to Dover, Del. to face Delaware State in a MEAC match on Thursday, March 25 at 6 p.m. at Memorial Hall. The Hornets swept the first meeting (3/15) in Dover, Del.
 
SMITH SETS CAREER HIGHS: Senior Triniti Smith came off the bench at Howard (3/18) to share the duties at setter and had a career evening. The Bowie, Md., native recorded 14 assists, four service aces and had four digs, all career highs in the win over the Bison.
 
BOZIER REACHES CAREER VICTORY 475: Morgan State head coach Ramona Riley-Bozier entered the 2021 Spring season three wins shy of career victory No. 475. She picked up milestone victory 475 with a 3-2 victory over Howard on Monday, March 8. Riley-Bozier, who is the all-time winningest coach at Morgan State in any sport with 475 career victories as the volleyball coach, is also the softball program's all-time career coaching leader with 161 victories in nine seasons at the helm.
