Former Bear Standout Tiwian Kendley Signs to Play in Kosovo

Kendley signed with Vellaznimi Gjakove.

BALTIMORE, Md. (February 23, 2021) -- Former Morgan State standout Tiwian Kendley continues to make a name for himself as a professional overseas.

Kendley recently signed to play with the Vellaznimi Gjakove, a professional team in Kosovo that competes in the Superliga. This will be his third season as a professional player.

In addition to his athletic ability, will-to-win and high basketball IQ, Kendley knows what he brings to the table.

"I bring positive energy that will help us build to finish off the season strong," said Kendley. "My goal is focused on winning the cup."

"My experience at Morgan State has had a major influence on shaping my life," added Kendley. "I was fortunate to play for  Coach [Todd] Bozeman because he  believed his players should be held accountable for results. He also stressed self preparation, discipline, and commitment. The lessons learned from my time at Morgan have been critical to helping me succeed in the professional ranks as well as in my life overall.

"So when the moment comes that you have to be on your own, you will already know what to do. That was a big help to my growth."

The 25-year old played last summer at Jalisco in Mexican CIBACOPA League. In two games he had very impressive statistics averaging an impressive 21.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals.

Before testing the international waters, Kendley played for the NBA G-League's Capitol City Go-Go's in the 2018-19 season averaging 11.7 points, 1.3 steals, before finishing the season with the Windy City Bulls.

Kendley, a 6-foot-5 guard, played two college seasons at Morgan State and became the fastest player to reach  in MSU's Division I history, finishing with 1,032 points in just 44 career games. He averaged 26.1 points per game and grabbed 4.0 rebounds and had 2.1 steals per game in his senior campaign. Kendley reached double figures in all 44 games at Morgan State, including 20-plus in 30 games and reached 30 points or more seven times. He scored at least 25 points in 13 of his 21 games during his senior season and led the Bears in steals in 12 games his senior year.

The Harlem, N.Y. native had a career-high 41 points (13-19 FG) with six rebounds, five assists and two steals in 42 minutes vs. Bethune-Cookman (2/19/18). Kendley was a First-Team BOXTOROW All-American in 2016-17 and selected to the All-MEAC First Team his junior season and the MEAC All-Tournament Team as senior. A two-time MEAC Player of the Week selection (Jan. 3 & Jan. 9, 2018), Kendley drew 119 fouls in 21 games (5.7 pg) his senior year, taking the 22nd-most free throws in the country. He would miss seven games due to an injury his junior year and 10 games his senior season. Kendley also scored over 1,000 points in two seasons at Lamar Community College.

As a senior, Kendley also garnered National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 15 first team honors and received second-team honors as a junior.
