Dahnye Redd and
Charlene Shepherd each scored a team-high 10 points and
Maiya Bumbray came off the bench to pull down a team-leading six rebounds, as Morgan State defeated visiting Washington Adventist, 73-34 in a non-conference game on Wednesday evening at Hill Field House.

The win was Morgan's second straight victory, as the Lady Bears (2-4) improved to 6-0 all-time against the Shock. Morgan State also improved to 20-2 in its last 22 games at home dating back to the 2018-19 season. Washington Adventist fell to 3-4 on the season.

Redd, who earlier in the week was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, shot 5-for-10 from the floor, while adding two rebounds, a block and a steal. Shepherd, who came off the bench, shot 3-of-5 and went 4-for-6 at the free throw line. Like Redd, Shepherd would also record two rebounds, a block and a steal.

Washington Adventist (3-4) cut the deficit to 45-25 when Deonna Jones-Carter knocked down a three-pointer with 6:00 left in the third. That would be the final points of the quarter for the Shock, as Morgan State used a 16-0 run over the final six minutes to extend its lead to 61-25 at the end of three. Morgan's run would spill into the fourth quarter, as Redd hit a jumper at the 9:35 mark to make it 18 straight points for the Lady Bears.

A free throw by Jones-Carter briefly ended Morgan State's run, making it a 63-26 contest. The Lady Bears responded with eight consecutive points, capped off by a free throw by
Fatima Black, giving the hosts their largest lead of the game (45 points) at 71-26 with 7:01 to play.

The Lady Bears took a 10-2 lead on a three-pointer by
Elaija Demeza with 7:01 left in the opening quarter and led 18-5 on a jumper by Redd with 1:37 left in the quarter. Morgan State would take a 39-17 advantage into the locker room at the half.

Morgan State forced an opponent season-high 40 turnovers out of Washington Adventist and converted those turnovers into 40 points. 30 of those turnovers were way of steals with
Adia Brisker and
Jayla Atmore leading the way with five steals apiece.

Washington Adventist (3-4) was led by Nyelle Allen, who scored a game-high 13 points. Deonna Jones-Carter pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds in the loss.

Next up for Morgan State is a trip to Jersey City, N.J. to take on Saint Peter's in a non-conference game on Monday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m.
