Oduro Helps Power George Mason Past Bears

FAIRFAX, Va. (Nov. 14) -- Josh Oduro had a game-high 22 points and six rebounds as George Mason beat Morgan State 90-53 on Sunday night inside EagleBank Arena.

The Patriots improve to a 5-1 advantage in the all-time series between the schools with Morgan's only win coming in 1994.

Oduro, a preseason All-A-10 Third Team selection, connected on 8 of 9 from the field and was 3 of 3 from beyond the arc. He also blocked three shots. 
 
D'Shawn Schwartz added 17 points and seven rebounds for the Patriots (3-0). Davonte Gaines had 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds, while DeVon Cooper added 14 points.
 
De'Torrion Ware led Morgan State (2-1) with 15 points (4-7 3FG), and Keith McGee scored 14 off the bench. Isaiah Burke chipped in 11 points with four boards.

George Mason controlled all aspects of the game, from rebounding to defense. The Patriots led 43-27 at halftime and by the early minutes of the second half the Patriots' lead had reached 23, and they continued to stretch the advantage while coasting the rest of the way.
 
In addition to outrebounding Morgan 44-27, the Patriots forced 17 turnovers that led to 28 points.
 
Morgan shot 34 percent
(21-61) from the field, 7 for 24 (29.2%) from 3-point territory, and only took five free throws (4-5 FT) for the night.

George Mason shot 51 percent (30-58) from the floor and 45 percent (15-33) from 3-point territory. It marked the most triples made by the Patriots in EagleBank Arena in more than 20 years.

The Bears will begin a three-game western road swing as they head to play Seattle University on Thursday, Nov. 18.
