Tyson scores 26 to lift Seattle past Morgan State

Isaiah Burke led the Bears with 19 points.

SEATTLE, Wash. – Fueled by 26-point first half points from Cameron Tyson, the Seattle Redhawks cruised to its third win of the season, taking down the Morgan State Bears 93-80 Thursday night at the Redhawk Center.

Tyson could not miss in the first half knocking down his first eight attempts, including six threes, on the game leading the Redhawks to an early 12-0 run.

Morgan State eventually scored at the 15:40 mark in the half, but SU stayed hot from the field and ballooned the lead to 20 with a Tyson three pointer.

In all, Seattle U (3-1) shot 54 percent from the field and 64 percent from deep to hold a 55-23 lead heading into the locker rooms.

The Bears did well to cover Tyson in the second half, not allowing him to score after the break. But the Redhawks utilized other options, getting a career performance from Kobe Williamson with 14-points and double-digit contributions by Darrion Trammell (16 pts, 6 ast) and Emeka Udenyi (14 pts, 7 reb).

Morgan (2-2) did make it a close game in the second frame thanks to a tough defensive effort and outscored Seattle U 57-38 in the half. Four Bears were able to crack double digits with Isaiah Burke leading the way with 19 points. Keith McGee added 16 points. Will Thomas had 15 points and seven rebounds.

The Redhawks finished the night shooting 47 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc, knocking down 15-of-30 from deep.

Morgan is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 22 when they face the Portland Pilots at the Chile Center with tip off set for 10 p.m. (ET).
