Lady Bears Visit Maryland Eastern Shore Sunday

Morgan to face Hawks for first time since 2019.

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (Oct. 16, 2021)-The Morgan State volleyball team will wrap-up the first half of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) slate on the road when it visits Maryland Eastern Shore (MDES) on Sunday, Oct. 17. First serve is at 2 p.m. inside the Hytche Athletic Center.
 
Morgan State (3-17, 1-5 MEAC), which is riding a four-match losing skid is coming off a 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-15) loss at home to Delaware State on Friday (10/15). Gabriela Hiciano led the Lady Bears with eight kills and Tyasia McDuffie finished with a team-leading seven digs. Mackenzie Jefferson recorded 19 assists in the loss.
 
Maryland Eastern Shore (8-9, 3-3 MEAC) is coming off a 3-0 loss (25-15, 28-26, 25-18) at Coppin State on Friday. The Hawks, who had their two-match winning streak snapped, were led offensively by Maya Hendricks, who fell short of a double-double with a match-high 11 kills and nine digs. Tijana Korosec collected 11 digs and 11 assists to earn a double-double and Stella Johnson led MDES with a team-high 12 digs.
 
MSU SERIES NOTES AGAINST THE SHORE: Morgan State leads the all-time series 44-24 over Maryland Eastern Shore. The two teams last met during the 2019 season and split the two contests each winning on their home floor. MDES opted out the 2021 Spring season.
 
NEXT UP: The Lady Bears will begin the second half of the MEAC schedule at home when they host North Carolina Central on Friday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. at Hill Field House. NCCU won the first meeting, 3-1 in Durham, N.C. (9/24). Morgan State will then welcome South Carolina State on Sunday, Oct. 24 for Homecoming. First serve against the Bulldogs will be at 1 p.m. Morgan State won the first meeting in Orangeburg, S.C. (9/26), by defeating S.C. State in three.
 
SAYING GOODBYE: Morgan State will say goodbye to two seniors at the end of the season in two-year member Kendal Hoges and four-year member Jasmin Perry. The two will be honored during the Lady Bears' Senior Day festivities prior to their match against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on November 7 at 1 p.m.
 
STILL UNBEATEN: Morgan State improved to 24-0 all-time against South Carolina State, following its 3-0 sweep of the host Bulldogs (9/26) in Dukes Gymnasium in Orangeburg, S.C.

2021 MEAC CHAMPIONSHIP: This year's 2021 MEAC Volleyball Championship returns back to Washington, D.C. after a year hiatus. The championship tournament, which was held in Norfolk, Va. at Norfolk State University during the 2021 Spring season, will take place November 19-21, 2021 at Burr Gymnasium on the campus of Howard University. The last time the tournament was held in the Nation's Capital was during the 2019 season. Morgan State would reach the title match that season, falling to host Howard in a five-set thriller.
