Men's Tennis Dominates Villanova, 4-0

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (February 22, 2020) -- The Morgan State men's tennis team ended a 2-game skid by dominating Villanova Saturday afternoon in their second match of the day. The Bears defeated the Wildcats, 4-0 at Tose Family Tennis Center, following a 4-0 loss to host Navy earlier in the day.
 
In doubles, the Bears clinched the point on court one with a win from Cem Erturk and Oguzhan Ceylan over Tyler Roth and Daniel Martinez, 7-6 (5). Serhii Kharchev and Mark Amaefule recorded a 6-2 decision in their match knocking off the brother duo of Stefan and Justin Suarez. After the match was clinched, Nihit Rawal and Sebastian Lopez defeated Dylan Flanagan and Tommy Mulflur, 6-3 at number three doubles..
 
In singles, the team went 3-0 with three matches going unfinished. Sebastian Lopez clinched the match for the team with his precision shots that led him to a hard-fought 6-1, 7-6 (5) win over Mulflur. Ceylan outmatched Alex Kim, 6-2, 6-0 at number three singles. Rawal battled to a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Flanagan at number two singles. 
 
The Bears are now 6-3 on the season and return to action on Saturday, March 1 when they host the La Salle Explorers. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
