ELON, N.C. (Feb. 16, 2020)-The Lady Bears softball team concluded the Phoenix Invitational on Sunday with two non-conference losses to Siena, 6-3 and host Elon, 7-0 at Hunt Softball Park. Morgan State fell to 0-4 with the losses, while Siena improved to 1-3 and Elon upped its record to 7-1 with its sixth straight victory.

Inside The Numbers: Game 1
- Morgan State's Katarina Delph and Aliya Ewell both were 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lady Bears. Delph scored a run and Ewell had an RBI. Jalian Young went 1-for-2 with a run.
- The Saints scored six runs on 10 hits and had 6RBI.
- Siena's Taylor Rhinehart, Isabelle DeChiaro and Kelly Rasulo all were 2-for-3 at the plate.
- Maddie McMahon improved to 1-1. She allowed three runs on five hits, three walks and tallied four strikeouts.Â
How It Happened:
- Siena jumped out to a 4-0 lead when the Saints scored four runs in the second inning. Kaitlyn Davis hit a bases loaded double to left centerfield to drive in three runs and give the Saints a 3-0 lead. Davis later scored when Antonia Alba singled to left field to make it a 4-0 lead for the Saints.
- Morgan State cut the lead in half, by scoring two runs in the third inning. Aliya Ewell reached on a fielding error on the Siena shortstop, which allowed Jalian Young and Katarina Delph to score.
- The Saints got a run back in the fourth when Davis hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Molly Mason for the fifth Siena run.
- Morgan State's Rachel Daugherty scored in the fifth inning on Ewell's RBI single to center field to bring the Lady Bears within 5-3.
- Siena scored the final run of the game when Isabelle DeChiaro singled down the left field line to score Sophia Caputo for the 6-3 win. Â
Inside the Numbers: Game 2
- Morgan State was shutout for the second time this season.
- Haylee Bobos was 1-for-2 and Hannah Lalk went 1-for-3 to record Morgan State's two hits for the game.
- Elon scored seven runs on nine hits and had 7RBI and five walks as a team.
- Carley Davis led Elon, going 2-for-4 with a run scored, a grand slam homer and 4RBI.
- Megan White was 2-for-3 with two runs and 2RBI.
- Kenna Quinn improved to 4-0 on the year. Quinn pitched five innings, allowing no runs on hits and walked just one batter, while striking out eight Lady Bears.Â
How It Happened:
- Elon broke a scoreless game by erupting for five runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 5-0 lead. Megan White hit a RBI single to left field to score Allie Eith for the first run. Carley Davis later drove in 4 RBIs when she hit a grand slam to left field to make it a 5-0 game.
- The Pheonix went back to work in the fifth inning, adding two more runs for the 7-0 victory. White homered to left field to increase the Elon lead to 6-0. Eith then drew a bases loaded walk which scored Claudia Penney for the final run.Â
Up Next: Morgan State will travel to the Sunshine State for the Diamond 9 Tournament held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. (Feb. 21-23). The Lady Bears will open up with Stetson and Oakland on Friday, before facing Villanova and Troy on Saturday. Morgan State closes out the tournament on Sunday, when it takes on Clemson. Â
