The Mids (0-4), who were playing their fourth consecutive road game to start the season, jumped out to an early 9-3 advantage and held a 13-6 lead with 5:54 left in the first quarter, following back-to-back baskets by Morganne Andrews. Morgan State used an 11-4 spurt capped off by a steal and layup from Sydney Searcy to even the score at 17 all at the 1:55 mark of the opening period. The score would remain tied after a quarter of play at 19-19.

A three-pointer by Mccalla gave the host Lady Bears a 22-21 lead with 9:32 to play in the second, their first since leading 3-0 15 seconds into the game. Navy responded with a 9-2 spurt to take a 30-26 lead. The Mids would take a 38-34 lead into the locker room.

Morgan State came out of the break and began to knock down the long-range shot. The Lady Bears, who shot 4-of-7 (54 percent) from three-point range in the third period, knocked down three straight three-pointers in the midst of a 9-2 run to take a 45-40 advantage, after McCalla hit the last one at the 6:59 mark.

A fourth quarter jumper by Henson with 5:58 left in the contest, matched the Lady Bears largest lead of the afternoon at 59-50. Navy would not go away, using an 11-2 run to even the score at 61 all on a jumper by Sophie Gatzounas with 1:22 left in the game.

The hosts then closed out the game by scoring six of the final eight points, including four straight free throws to secure the win.
